Private property, goffer & co. 2010
Art project in collaboration with the residents, shapira community, Israel The private property installation was constructed in cooperation with the local community, a protest against the gentrification of their neighborhoods. The
private property was constructed and dismantled within three days nationalized in favour of the residents, consisting of Jews, Arabs, foreign workers, both legal and illegal.
The area consists of a dilapidated house, a private parking space and a small garden area that could be used for the
benefit of the residents. The residants could do with the private property whatever thay wish for.
The private area raises the question of belonging, who owns the space, who built it and who took it.
